From first call to closing: feedback at every touchpoint
Ask agents when they collect feedback and the answer is nearly always "after closing." One moment, months into the relationship, when emotions are high and the sample is tiny. But a client relationship offers many natural moments to ask — and each answers a different question about how you work.
The first conversation measures listening: did you hear what they're actually looking for, or start selling? The open house measures presence — welcomed or hovered over. The buyer consult and the valuation conversation measure clarity: does the process feel navigable, did the pricing story make sense? The showing measures honesty — did you point out the water stain, or hope they missed it?
Later moments measure different virtues. A question answered tests responsiveness. A market update tests whether your communication is signal or noise. The quarterly check-in tests memory — do you still know what matters to them when there's no deal on the table? Each is a thirty-second ask; together they draw a portrait a closing survey never could.
One touchpoint gives you a review. Nine touchpoints give you a reputation.
The collection math changes completely at this cadence. An agent doing two closings a month collects two data points. The same agent asking at every touchpoint collects dozens — including from prospects who never transact, whose honest reactions are otherwise lost entirely. The profile stops being a trophy case and starts being a record.
Start smaller than nine if you like: first conversations and open houses alone will change the shape of your record in a month. The principle is the thing — ask when the moment happens, keep it short, count everything.
